I'm home sick right now, and indulged in some movie watching. So...I just saw the third Transformers movie. There were SO many things in it that could have been awesome, but in fact weren't. Laserbeak had an incredible sequence where he was having a tea party with a little girl and then wreaked havoc. If handled better, it could have been really horrifying and wrenching. Instead it was 20 seconds or so and we went right back to the travails of the fairly unlikable human leads.
Speaking of whom, Bay apparently decided to turn Sam into a Douchebag, and replaced Mikaela, who was tough and brave and cool enough that you could almost forgive how painfully and offensively objectified she was, with a bimbo who existed solely to pout attractively while wearing tarty clothes. Ok, perhaps that was overly harsh. She had one good scene.
None of the Bots got any character development. Optimus, Megatron and Sentinel all had wonderful voice actors and could have been amazing. If any time had been spent on Sam and Bee's relationship, it would have been nice. Characters died and no one had any emotional reaction. WTF?
Soundwave was an awesome car. There were what appear to have been sparklings/hatchings in one scene, but no explanation or further development was given. The African sunlight did glint beautifully off various mech's armor, though.
Anyone know if a director's cut by a different director exists? It COULD have been so frikkin awesome, if only...
